Brad’s Grandfather, Roger Nowak worked as Plant Manager at Van Brode, now Weetabix located locally in Clinton, he would later go on to invent, design and develop over 40 patents, including the Ringlet Clothespin and the FunnelCap. It was their love of manufacturing as well as their creative ingenuity and entrepreneurship which inspired a young Brad who at age 12, was out early each day before school delivering the Worcester Telegram proud to have his own paper route.

Education

After attending Bancroft Elementary School and West Boylston public schools, Brad graduated from St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury in 1987. It was at St. John’s that Brad discovered his love of math, helping his team win the state Math Title in 1986, and achieving a perfect Math Score on the SAT. As a high school senior, Brad was invited and attended the College of the Holy Cross to advance his math studies.

In addition to his love of math, Brad’s other passions included chess and model rocketry which he taught to young students during the summer months while he also enjoyed working at the local gas station and convenience store. Also at that time, to help earn his twenty one merit badges and Eagle Scout rank from Troop 13 in West Boylston, Brad completed a detailed trail and recreation map for visitors to enjoy as they visited the historic Old Stone Church located on the beautiful Wachusett Reservoir. In 1987, Brad attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh graduating with a dual degree in Math and Computer Engineering in 1991.
